Online-only beginning Dec 22

Monday, December 21, 2020
Dear Church Family,
It is with heavy heart that I must inform you that based on a recommendation from our Health and Welfare Committee we are going to suspend our 11:00 Sunday in-person services for a while starting with this coming Sunday, Dec 27th. (Tonight’s Longest Night Service will still be in-person, though we recommend staying home and watching it Live on Facebook.) This will also include all other small group in-person meetings such as Sunday School classes and the Men’s Friday morning coffee group (unless we can come up with an alternate plan). Currently the COVID-19 numbers in Gwinnett County have climbed back up enough to change the county from orange to red. This indicates the rate of increase in COVID-19 cases has reached a level which exceeds what is recommended by CDC Guidelines and the North Georgia Conference of United Methodist Church for safe in-person worship services and meetings. We will continue to monitor these numbers and as soon as they go back to acceptable levels, we will again consider reopening the church for in-person worship services. We have had some reports of people within our Harmony Grove bubble whom have recently been exposed and/or tested positive and are quarantining, indicating the virus has arrived among us, so precautions are necessary.
During the interim, we will continue to have Sunday morning services, but they will only be broadcast Live on Facebook and then uploaded to YouTube.
We are indeed sorry for this development, but wisdom dictates we take the necessary precautions to protect ourselves.
Let us continue to pray for the end of this pandemic. Until then, please keep yourself safe by wearing a mask when in public, maintaining safe social distancing, avoiding large gatherings, and washing your hands often. If you have any questions regarding COVID-19 signs/symptoms, and the available vaccines, please contact your primary care physician. For any questions regarding the decision to suspend our 11:00 Sunday in-person services and the precautions we are taking to maintain the safety and wellbeing of the congregation, please contact Renee Baca, the chair of our Health and Welfare Committee.
In Christ,
Pastor Mark
