Last week in the What’s Happening, I covered what is coming up at the church once we fully reopen on August 15th. I hope you had a chance to read it. I want to provide some more detail on a couple things. On August 18th, we will resume our Wednesday Night Fellowship dinners beginning at 5:00 p.m. in Pollard Hall. There is one significant change: due to the ongoing threat posed by COVID-19, the Health and Welfare Committee has decided that the Fellowship Dinner will be a BYOD (Bring Your Own Dinner). That’s right! You can do drive through on the way here, or bring leftovers or a home-prepared dinner, or order your dinner and have it delivered to the church. Bring food for you and your family, sit down at a table, and join in the fellowship! We will provide iced tea. This also means you will no longer need to register for the fellowship meal. Once it is deemed safe, we will go back to catered meals IF SOMEONE STEPS UP TO ORGANIZE IT. As mentioned last week, the Bible Study I am leading on Wednesday night beginning at 6:00 p.m. will be in person here at the church and we will be using Sandra Richter’s Book of Psalms Study Guide: An Ancient Challenge to Get Serious About Your Prayer and Worship (Epic of Eden). Jim will also restart his in-person Bible Study on Monday mornings (beginning date to be determined) and will be using Amy-Jill Levine’s book, Sermon on the Mount: A Beginner’s Guide to the Kingdom of Heaven. Both Richter’s and Levine’s books can be ordered from Amazon and other retailers. I hope you join this Sunday in person or online when we will celebrate our VBS program and share in communion, and I’ll preach on John 6:24-35, titled “Bread from Heaven.” God bless you!
John 6:32-33: “It is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”
