Meet Our Speaker
Rev. Marci Huntsman
Rev. Marci Huntsman’s service as a lay servant and volunteer-on-staff for Centreville United Methodist Church, Virginia Annual Conference, led to the realization of her calling to the ministry in 2004. She completed her undergraduate degree at George Mason University in 2006 and was appointed as a part-time Licensed Local Pastor to CUMC in 2007 with responsibilities in Congregational Care and leading Contemporary and Traditional worship. Marci graduated from Wesley Theological Seminary and became a full-time pastor in May of 2010. She was commissioned by the Virginia Annual Conference Board of Ordained Ministry as a Provisional Elder in 2011 and was ordained as an Elder in Full Connection in 2017.
In 2020, Marci retired, and she and her husband, Ken, moved from Virginia to Steamboat Springs, CO, where she occasionally fills in for the pastors at Heart of Steamboat UMC, and serves as the Chair for the Christian Action Network Committee.

“Discipleship Collage: Assembling the Stories of Our Faith”

MARCH 3-5, 2023
Our speaker, Rev. Tammy Humphries, grew up at Harmony Grove UMC. Her retreat topic was “Peace in Life’s Storms: Facing Change with Faith”.
Her family, the Parrishes, joined the church when she was in the 8th Grade. She was active in the church youth group as a teen. As an adult, she was married in the “old” sanctuary, and her three babies were baptized in the “new” sanctuary. During her years at Harmony Grove, she participated in many ministries, activities and Bible studies worshipping with some of the most precious people in her life. The people of Harmony Grove are the foundation to her faith journey.
God called Tammy into pastoral ministry while she was at Harmony Grove. She was affirmed in her call at a Women’s Retreat for this very group, confirming it later in another church. The years in-between and since have given her first-hand experiences of God’s grace in the midst of life’s difficulties. She now serves as an associate pastor at Forest Hills Church in Macon, Ga where she lives with her husband, Chuck, and their fur babies.

MARCH 4-6, 2022
Our speaker was Rev. Beth LaRocca-Pitts, PhD who is the senior pastor at Oak Grove UMC and spouse of Harmony Grove’s own Pastor Mark. She holds a PhD in Old Testament studies and has taught at Duke Divinity school, UGA, and at the Candler School of Theology in the Contextual Education and Course of Study School programs.
