Meet Our Speaker

Meredith Webb is a Master of Divinity student at Candler School of Theology with concentrations in Chaplaincy and Society and Personality and will be graduating in May of 2024. Meredith moved to Atlanta in the fall of 2021 to pursue her education and began working at Harmony Grove UMC as the Director of Youth Ministry.

Meredith is a Certified Candidate for Ordained Ministry in the Virginia Conference of the UMC. After graduation, Meredith will attend licensing school and become a Licensed Local Pastor as the next step in her ordination journey. Meredith aspires to be an Ordained Elder in the UMC.

Meredith grew up in Southeast Virginia with her parents and brother. She was raised and discipled at Main Street UMC in Suffolk, VA, a church and community that remains her spiritual home. Over the years Meredith has ventured to various locations on mission trips, her favorites being South Dakota, Hawaii, and Brazil! These trips, coupled with her upbringing in the church are where Meredith built the foundations of her faith and began her discipleship journey. Throughout her time in Seminary, Meredith has discerned her passion and call to ministry to lead churches in ways that challenge the status quo, nurture discipleship, and deeply love the community within and without.

When she has spare time, Meredith enjoys spending time with those who bring her joy, FaceTiming her nephew, crafting with her Cricut, and participating in community theatre productions.

MARCH 3-5, 2023

Our speaker, Rev. Tammy Humphries, grew up at Harmony Grove UMC. Her retreat topic was “Peace in Life’s Storms: Facing Change with Faith”.

Her family, the Parrishes, joined the church when she was in the 8th Grade. She was active in the church youth group as a teen. As an adult, she was married in the “old” sanctuary, and her three babies were baptized in the “new” sanctuary. During her years at Harmony Grove, she participated in many ministries, activities and Bible studies worshipping with some of the most precious people in her life. The people of Harmony Grove are the foundation to her faith journey.

God called Tammy into pastoral ministry while she was at Harmony Grove. She was affirmed in her call at a Women’s Retreat for this very group, confirming it later in another church. The years in-between and since have given her first-hand experiences of God’s grace in the midst of life’s difficulties. She now serves as an associate pastor at Forest Hills Church in Macon, Ga where she lives with her husband, Chuck, and their fur babies.
