I hope you are excited about the church! I know I am. This pandemic just about has me worn out, but the end is in sight, and with cautious tiny steps we will see our church slowly returning to normal—or a new normal. Being the new kid on the block, I don’t know what this is like when this church is “full steam ahead” and “all aboard.” But I am excited to find out! As you know, we are opening back for in-person worship on Sunday, March 14th (daylight saving time begins). It will be a partial reopening following pandemic best practice safety precautions as previously, but it is a start! Some of our small groups are going to begin meeting again after approval of our Health and Welfare committee. I can’t wait. Our goal is to get everything in place, so that by August 15, God permitting and the pandemic having abated, we can truly be full steam ahead with all aboard. I hope with our recent addition of “Invitation to Ministry” to our Sunday worship where we highlight all our ministries, you are again getting a clearer view of all the opportunities here at HG to get involved and to grow in your discipleship. There are so many ways to make a difference here at HG and beyond our walls in our community including Sunday school classes, Bible studies, Children and Youth ministries, Music ministry, Library ministry, the Preschool, the Scouts, United Methodist Women and United Methodist Men, the Joy Club, the Prayers and Squares Quilt ministry, the Missions Ministry, Creative Campaigning and Gaming Group (CCGG), Men’s Coffee Chat, and Wednesday night dinner and fellowship, to name a few. If there is a ministry that is close to your heart and that cannot find expression in one of our current ministries, let’s talk and make it happen. This is YOUR church! What should we be doing to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world? The future of this church is ours to shape with God’s grace. The future is knocking. Let’s open the door and see what God has in store for us.
1 Cor 12:4-7: Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.
